leaders2give teamed up with the Los Barriles Food Bank (LBFB) to help feed those in need in Los Barriles, Mexico and its surrounding communities. It was a community driven, temporary, emergency initiative in response to COVID-19.
Most of the town was shut down due to the pandemic. It was a very serious situation that had developed and, thankfully, there was a dedicated crew at ground zero to help organize this effort in partnership with The Delegacion de Los Barriles (The Mayor's Office.)
For most of the 8 month duration of the program, the LBFB provided food parcels to over 900 families (feeding 4,000 to 5,000 people a week.)
In keeping with our mission to build community leaders, a local youth, selected by leaders2give, assisted the LBFB in the collection and organization of food, in helping to identify needy recipients, and in distributing food packages to members of his or her community.
