New Partnership: Empowering Single Moms Through Childcare

[scroll down for Partner updates]

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Wonderland for Kids, a warm and engaging early learning center located in Los Barriles, Baja California Sur.

Wonderland for Kids provides a safe, nurturing environment where children can grow, create, and connect through play-based learning in both English and Spanish.

With programs for infants, toddlers, and school-aged children, the team offers personalized care that supports every child’s unique potential.

Our partnership focuses specifically on their Sponsorship Program, which makes quality childcare accessible to families who need it most.

In Los Barriles, the lack of affordable childcare presents serious challenges—particularly for single mothers who are working to support their families or pursue their education.

The Sponsorship Program fully covers the cost of daycare for qualifying families, allowing moms to stay employed, pursue opportunities, and build financial stability—all while ensuring their children receive the developmental support and early education they deserve.

This is the kind of local, community-rooted impact Leaders2Give is proud to support.

At Leaders2Give we believe strongly in community and the notion that “helping is helping.” That’s why a big part of who we are hinges on partnering with other charitable organizations and community groups whose work reflects our mission, purpose, and values.

Please consider making a donation to the Wonderland for Kids Sponsorship Program. Your support helps provide consistent, high-quality childcare to families who need it most.

Líderes Para Dar / John Gullo Home for Children

This month, the John Gullo Home for Children hosted a truly special event: the unveiling of the Garden of Light, created in memory of young Maddie, whose light continues to shine.

The ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, with board members, the home’s directors, community supporters, and family coming together to honor Maddie’s legacy.

Amongst the bustle of the event the first child to stay at the home looked on from a quiet corner. It was a powerful reminder of what this place is all about—offering love, care, and comfort to families in crisis.

Special thanks to all who made the garden possible and to those who shared words, stories, and support. Maddie’s lasting message to all of us: Be kind.

New Creation Kids (NCK) Children’s Home

New Creation Kids (NCK) has been with us since the very beginning and continues to hold a special place in our journey. Operated by Roberto and Alma Osuna, this independent, registered Mexican nonprofit provides a safe and stable home for up to 30 children at a time—children whose parents are unable or unfit to care for them due to circumstances such as addiction, violence, or homelessness.

As many of you know, Leaders2Give does not oversee the operations of New Creation Kids. Instead, we support them by helping to fund essential daily needs like food, electricity, education, fuel, and water. Our involvement also includes stepping in on urgent capital improvements—like when we installed cisterns to help address water shortages in 2021.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we currently have enough funding to cover their basic needs for the year. That said, the needs at NCK are ongoing and often unpredictable. If you’d like to help cover the cost of essentials like water deliveries or meals, please consider making a donation. Just $25 can support one child for ten days.

The East Cape Health Center

East Cape Health Center continues to expand its services and technology to meet the evolving health needs of the East Cape community. Thanks to generous donor support, the clinic has recently added vital equipment that enhances both diagnostics and emergency care.

All lab tests are now processed in-house, providing faster results and reduced costs. New additions include a biologic analyzer for hormone and cancer marker testing, and a blood gas analyzer used for critical emergency triage.

In the dental department, digital scanning has replaced traditional mouth impressions, allowing for quicker and more accurate imaging. This upgrade complements their digital panoramic CT, which supports everything from orthodontics to dental implants.

The clinic’s pharmacy is also relocating across the parking lot to a larger space in Plaza Libertad. The expanded location will offer a wider selection of over-the-counter medications, functional medicine products, and specialized prescriptions.

Adjacent to the new pharmacy, East Cape Health Center will launch the WELL FAMILY Functional Medicine Clinic, which will focus on naturopathic care, pain management, and regenerative therapies. Joining the team is Dr. Steve Morris, a naturopathic physician and founder of Mukilteo Natural Health Clinic in Washington State.

They also welcome Dr. Paul Winterton, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon from Salt Lake City known for his work in stem cell therapies. He will be speaking on Saturday, April 12 at 4:00 p.m. at the Palmas de Cortez conference room—a free event open to the public. Check out one of his videos here.

As a nonprofit foundation, East Cape Health Center relies on donations large and small to keep its services accessible. Tax-deductible contributions in both the US and Mexico help the clinic offer substantial discounts—making healthcare more affordable for families in need.

Thank you for supporting community wellness.

Feeding The Hungry

For years local ATV riders have been generous supporters of the Feeding the Hungry Charity.

The funds raised by the Annual Community ATV Fun Ride held in December, gives 4WD enthusiasts the opportunity to have a huge amount of fun and, at the same time, raise cash to help those most in need.

The organizers of the ATV Fun Ride have been cultivating positive relationships with local ranchers and recently ran an ‘Ambassadors’ ATV ride through rancher’s properties which are not usually open to 4WD vehicles. The hope is that we will be able to  expand the options for Community ATV Fun Rides in the future.

Karma struck at the end of the ride when the 50/50 raffle ticket was drawn and we discovered that the winning ticket was bought by Norm Helley.

Norm is one of the regular Trail Builders who works hard to keep old trails open and to develop new trails, so we are very happy he had the winning ticket.  Norm is off on an  ATV trip in the Sahara later this year, which seems like an added bonus for a generous guy.

SNAP - Spay, Neuter, and Prevention

SNAP continues to seek out passionate individuals who are ready to take an active role in making a difference. The groups mission extends beyond spay and neuter services—its goal is to foster leadership and inspire lasting change within local communities.

At a recent clinic in Santiago, where 68 animals were sterilized in just one morning, SNAP volunteers met Alejandra Cota Ceseña, known as Ale to her friends. Ale, a resident of Santiago, works as a nutritionist at East Cape Home Health in Los Barriles.

She attended the clinic to care for several of her own pets—she has a total of 10 dogs and 3 cats—but she also went above and beyond by providing transportation and care for 11 additional dogs belonging to friends and neighbors who were unable to attend.

Throughout the day, it became clear that Ale’s dedication to animal welfare extended far beyond her own home. Over a shared meal and thoughtful conversation, she expressed a sincere interest in volunteering, particularly in youth education. Recognizing her enthusiasm and commitment, SNAP welcomed her as a new addition to its Community Outreach team.

In an unexpected and heartwarming connection, it was also discovered that Ale had played a crucial role in caring for Bella, a beloved Shih Tzu left behind when her owner, Ms. Vicki Heaps, passed away unexpectedly. Vicki was a longtime Los Barriles resident and a dedicated SNAP supporter, known for her love of animals and commitment to the cause. This moment served as a reminder of the deep and meaningful ways in which people, animals, and community efforts are intertwined.

With individuals like Ale stepping forward, SNAP continues to build a stronger, more compassionate network of leaders dedicated to animal welfare. The organization remains committed to connecting with others who share its vision and are ready to take action.
