A Community in Orbit

One donation. One conversation. And a ripple of generosity that’s reaching across borders.
This is the story of Sebastian Gonzalez, a supporter who has never even set foot in Baja California Sur but has been inspired by the work Leaders2Give is doing. Living in Spain, Sebastian has followed our journey and drawn parallels between his business, Orbitar Inc., and our mission to serve vulnerable children and families.
When Sebastian reached out just before the holidays, he asked one simple question:
What is your greatest need?
The answer was clear—operational funding. With the John Gullo Home for Children built, furnished, and equipped, our biggest challenge remains securing the $150,000 needed to sustain 18 months of operating costs and open the doors to children.
Sebastian didn’t hesitate. He pledged a significant donation and challenged the community to match it, launching the donor match campaign that’s brought us closer to our goal.
While we haven’t fully matched his gift yet, the ripple effect of his generosity has been extensive, and we’re confident that in the coming months, we’ll raise the remaining funds needed to open the home.
In recognition of Sebastian’s incredible support, we are proud to announce that the boys’ dormitory will be named Dormitorio Orbitar, a tribute to his team and the shared values of service to others.
Create Your Own Ripple
Sebastian’s story reminds us of the power of generosity to inspire and create lasting impact. Naming rights are still available for other visible areas of the home, including the staff quarters and the common area.

However, there are still a few important items we need to make the home fully functional and welcoming for the children and staff. Every contribution helps bring us closer to opening the doors and fulfilling our mission.
Visit our Needed Items List to see what’s still required, from hardware to window coverings. Your support, big or small, makes a lasting difference.
Let’s finish this together!
New Creation Kids (NCK) Children’s Home
At the beginning of every fiscal year, Roberto and Alma Osuna - the folks that run the facility - have to make a report to Nuevo Creacion AC on the year's activities to protect vulnerable children. When I first mentioned this to some friends they were confused? Don't Roberto and Alma run Nuevo Creacion A.C? Who are they reporting to? Actually, Nuevo Creacion AC is a larger organization, headquartered in Tijuana with operations all across Mexico.
The children's home in La Paz - a temporary home for children whose families are experiencing a crisis such as a single parent in prison, domestic abuse, addiction or extreme poverty - is called Nuevo Creaction Albergue Infantil and is only one of the facilities under the purview of Nuevo Creacion AC.
There is also 'Nuevo Creacion Comedor Infantil' a Food Security program and outreach centre in Los Cabos.
There is 'Centro Rehabilitador Nuevo Creacion' in La Paz which is a drug and alcohol treatment centre for adults and other similar facilities for both vulnerable children and adults across the country.
All of this work is overseen by volunteers. There is very little funding. Our work here at Leaders2Give is focused on providing funding to cover the basic operating expenses such as food, propane, water and education for the children that live at Nuevo Creacion Albergue Infantil. There are many other groups that get involved either directly or in partnership with us.
Leaders2Give does not oversee the operations, nor do we have any legal responsibility for this facility or any other facility under the leadership of Nuevo Creaction, AC. The only way we can help is by receiving donations from generous people like you.
As of right now we have enough funds to cover approximately a year of funding and encourage you to make a donation today.
The East Cape Health Center
The East Cape Health Ceter would like to thank you for allowing them to be a part of your care and well-being in 2024. Their commitment to you and your health inspires them every day to keep growing and improving. In this new year, they will continue fullfilling their commitment to support the families in the East Cape community. They would like to express their sincere gratitude for the generous donations received in 2024, which have allowed them to provide laboratory services, medical consultations, and essential medications to their beneficiaries.
At East Cape Health Center, your health is in the hands of the best medical team. They are all continuously trained to stay updated and provide the most comprehensive and quality care. The entire staff shares the commitment to delivering excellent medical services to those who need it most. If you require support or personalized care, don't hesitate to contact their reception.
Feeding The Hungry
It has been an amazing year for Feeding the Hungry. They have been able to add half a dozen new families to the program. This has been possible because a number of families have exited out of the program. Feeding the Hungry receives strong support from the community and once again were voted one of the top three ‘most favorite’ local charities at the Signathon event in November.
The Community ATV Fun Ride raised money and provided lots of fun for around 200 ATV riders who set about solving fifteen murders as they rode along the trails. Helping others has never been so much fun!
As we start a new year we realize that Ben, Harriet, Gordon, and Joy are not getting any younger! We would gratefully welcome some volunteers who would like to get involved and help run the program. So, if you want to make a difference in the lives of those who need help the most please send a message to purkeybh@gmail.com or gordonandjoy@gmail.com
SNAP - Spay, Neuter, and Prevention
As 2024 comes to a close, SNAP reflects on a year filled with remarkable achievements. Thanks to the support of the community, the organization performed 1,724 surgeries, helping reduce stray animal populations, improve public health, and relieve families of the worry of their pets having unwanted litters.
2024 Highlights
🐾 Community Outreach: Free flea and tick medicine encouraged spay and neuter participation in areas where disease prevention is critical.
🐾 Expanded Services: SNAP launched new clinics in underserved communities, making it easier for pet owners to access affordable care.
🐾 Youth Education: In collaboration with East Cape Environmental Education & Recycling Baja, SNAP delivered programs on responsible pet ownership during Curso de Verano and expanded its outreach to local schools.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The coming year holds even greater potential as SNAP plans to:
🐾 Expand its services with more clinics in additional communities.
🐾 Produce educational videos to promote awareness about responsible pet care.
🐾 Welcome new volunteers to join its mission.
How the Community Can Help in 2025
🐾 Donate financially: Contributions directly support spay/neuter surgeries and outreach programs.
🐾 Donate items: SNAP is seeking donations of collars and leashes in all sizes to support upcoming clinics.
🐾 Volunteer: Opportunities include assisting at clinics or participating in educational initiatives.
🐾 Spread the Word: Sharing SNAP’s mission with others helps amplify its impact.
SNAP extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who made 2024 a year of progress and success. Together, the organization looks forward to making 2025 an even more impactful year for animals and their families.
Free Flea and Tick Medicine Initiative
To encourage spaying and neutering, SNAP offered free flea and tick medicine to pet owners who participated in our recent clinics. This initiative not only improves pet health but also helps prevent the spread of disease to small children and families in our community. By protecting local pets, SNAP is also protecting the well-being of the entire community.
Upcoming Community Clinics
SNAP is excited to expand its reach by planning spay and neuter clinics in San Bartolo and El Cardonal. These efforts will allow SNAP to extend its impact into neighboring areas, but community support is needed to make these clinics possible.
Together, SNAP and its supporters can create a brighter future—one paw at a time.
Crescent Moon Project - Art for Children
While it may seem like the students are simply creating art, each project serves multiple purposes. The teacher expertly balances creativity with learning, ensuring every part of activities supports both artistic expression and educational growth.
ARTIST COLLECTIVE:
Nine local artists have joined CMP to work with small groups of students, teaching them a variety of art forms, including instrumental music. This initiative has been a joyful experience for both the children and the artists, fostering creativity while building connections across cultures in Los Barriles.
CAN YOU HELP?
Easy ways to support free art classes for the children of Los Barriles:
